The situation in March–April 2020.
Everyone is staying at home by government order. You can only leave your home after submitting an online or SMS request and getting it approved. So much for Covid…
Closed: hotels, cafes–bars–restaurants, shops (except for some grocery stores), shopping malls, and the entire tourism sector: rentals, souvenirs, excursions, real estate, etc. In short, almost everything is closed.
Not everyone is coping easily with this lockdown. Hopefully, it ends soon — seriously.

At least the birds are happy. They don’t have a curfew — they just fly around…
Staying at home. The number of allowed outings per day ranges from 1 to 3.
What I’m studying during lockdown
I don’t like TV shows, not into games either. But since I have the time, I try to use it productively. I’m learning and developing:
- Google Analytics
- SEO
- Yandex Metrica
- English
- Electric guitar lessons
- Fatherhood psychology
And a separate item, not directly related to the previous five: I’m studying ACI (Asian Classic Institute) courses.
It’s sad to see hotels closed during this warm, sunny spring.

During the strictest measures, there’s absolutely no one here. Only volunteers (including us sometimes) come to feed the cats used to the luxurious life near the open hotels. Occasionally, you’ll see runners who sent one of the authorized SMS codes to exercise.

I’m spending this time developing myself, learning new things, practicing…
Deserted Paphos

Even though it can feel empty even during the tourist season, now — during the quarantine — it’s completely deserted.
The curfew is still in place. To stretch our legs, we walk to the store. It’s not like Moscow here — no grocery stores, pharmacies or pizzerias in every building. But that’s not a big deal, really.

In the Upper Town these days, there’s almost no one at all.
